Local Scholarships - Wakonda Area

  • Community Scholarship - $1,000 - First Premier Bank
    The student and/or parent must have an account at the bank; must be a senior in high school; look at leadership & community service, character & scholarship.
    On-line application now available -March 1st deadline
  • J.R. Mayer Memorial Scholarship - $375  (Application) Deadline:April 13th
    This scholarship is sponsored by the Irene-Wakonda Ed. Assn.; the student must have participated in at least 2 sports during high school; must be in at least one sport during their senior year; showed support for school activities;G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher.
  • St. Patrick's Church - Knights of Columbus Scholarship - $300      Application  Deadline: 20th 
    Sponsored by St. Patrick's Church. Student must be a church member with a good academic record. 

  • Wakonda Alumni Assn. Scholarship - $500   (Application)  Deadline:April 13th 
    Open to I-W seniors who have demonstrated academic success; preference to Wakonda area students. 
  • Wakonda Community Scholarships - Amounts vary each year.  (Application) Deadline: April 20th
    Open to students who have demonstrated community service, need financial assistance; looks at activities and honors received during high school.
  • Irene-Wakonda Education Assn.(I-W.E.A.) Scholarship - $500   (Application) Deadline: April 20th 
    The recipient is selected by the I-W.E.A. on the basis of: ed. plans; leadership ability; extra-curricular activities; community service; and answers to essay questions.
  • Wakonda Heritage Manor - Avera Health Scholarship - 2 - $250scholarships available  (Application)  - Deadline: April 4th
    Open to a student interested in pursuing a career in a health-related career; G.P.A. of 3.0+ preferred; look at extra-curricular activities, community involvement, leadership & dependability. 
  • Wakonda Community Health Foundation Scholarship - $1,000 (Wakonda Community Health Foundation.docx) Deadline: April 4th
    One award will be given to a I-W HS senior, who is pursuing a health related career next year.  Student must have either a 24 ACT score or a 3.00 G.P.A. 
  • Joe and Dorothy Logue Memorial Scholarship -The recipient of this $500 scholarship may attend any college/university or vocational institute.  The applicant will be making plans for their first year pursuing an agriculture related, mechanical related, or teaching degree.  One $500 Scholarships will be awarded. This scholarship is payable upon successful completion of one semester of education with a C average or better.  (Application)   Deadline:  April 7th

  • SPEEDConnect Scholarship - 2 - $750 scholarships awarded 2nd sem.; preference for computer, electronics or technology degrees; for either college or technical school.  ApplicationDeadline:  April 20th
