Δ South Dakota State University is hosting its 20th Annual Aviation and Aerospace Career Education (ACE) Camp from July 10th -  13th , 2011.  Tuition is $300 (this includes a nonrefundable $25 application deposit to guarantee placement in the camp). Δ Youth Geology Field Camp @ SD School of Mines in Rapid City: gives students a chance to experience college life outdoors, complete with roommates in tents, outdoor cooking, visits to research labs, and field trips to see geologists in action!  2 Camps are available:  Grades 6-8 is June 5-8, 2011; Grades 9-12 is June 12-17, 2011 Scholarships may be available to students with financial need or good academic performance.  For more information on this camp or to register, visit or call Youth Programs at 605-394-2693.

Δ U.S.D.'s Health Care Careers Camp - Date: June 19 - 24, 2011; deadline is April 30th. Info. & application.

Located on Lake Enemy Swim at NeSoDak Camp near Waubay, South Dakota, Camp Gilbert is a camp for kids age 8–18 with diabetes. Cost is $550, but a local Lions Club has funds to sponsor two kids. More info: Contact Meredith at 238-5766.

Δ  Tech Prep/MTI summer academies. The academies are all two days in length and will be held week of June 20.  You can find more information at  The registration deadline for all four camps is Friday, May 6.  Registration is limited.
The following is a synopsis of each academy.
Communications Engineering Academy – June 20-21
The Academy is an annual career exploration event designed to give high school sophomores and juniors handson experiences in several communications and computer related areas including telecommunications, data cabling, networking, electronics, and MTI Engineering Technologies programs: Telecommunications, Computer Systems Technology, Office Technology Specialist, Satellite Communications and Automation Controls/SCADA.
Energy Production and Transmission Academy – June 21-22
Demand for clean energy has never been greater.  Bringing energy to our communities and our homes, efficiently, cleanly, and cost-effectively will be the job of the next generation of energy technicians.  Energy workers are in demand in every state and on every continent.  At this academy you will participate in the follow MTI programs: Power Line Construction & Maintenance, Propane & Natural Gas Technologies, Wind Turbine Technology, and Automation Controls/SCADA.
Construction Technology Academy – June 22-23
From design and basic building to wiring and high-end climate control, construction is a firm foundation to build a successful career.  Learn about today's hottest green building techniques in South Dakota's only Green Technologies program, Architectural Design & Building Construction.  Participants will also learn about the systems that run our homes and factories in Electrical Construction & Maintenance and Heating & Cooling Technology.
Culinary Arts Summer Academy – June 23-24
A successful chef has to start with the basics. In this camp, you will learn the basic skills required to be a professional chef: knife skills, safety, culinary terminology, dining room etiquette, etc. You’ll work with trained professional chef instructors and learn how to prepare dishes from start to finish, learn how to set a formal dining room and how to serve a meal. At the end of the camp, you’ll be able to show off your new found skills by preparing a lunch for your family and friends. Bon appétit!

CNA Institute
The Yankton Rural AHEC is providing the 2nd Annual Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Institute June 7-18, 2010.  The CNA Institute is a 10-day program that meets the SD Board of Nursing requirements for Certified Nursing Assistants.  click here for info. & applications

National Youth Science Camp  Applications to attend the 2010 National Youth Science Camp are now available online at Two graduating high school students will be selected to represent South Dakota at the all-expense paid honors program which will be held from June 29 through July 23, 2010.
