Local Scholarships - Irene Area
- Clifford Anderson Memorial -
1 - $1,000 scholarship is awarded based on an essay of a min. of 300 words
describing the student's meritorious leadership, involved in a variety of
co-curricular activities and acceptable academic performance. (Must go to a
student from the original Irene school district)

- Irene Community Scholarship
Award is based on involvement in school and community activities, with
emphasis to community service hours. # of scholarships and amounts vary,
depending upon funding each year.
- Bob Slowey Memorial Scholarship -
1 - $300 scholarship. Open to all seniors planning on a post-secondary ed.;
based on school involvement, community and church activities, as well as
Elsie O. Petersen / Earl and Irwin
Nielson Scholarship -
2 - $250 Scholarship awards for a graduating senior from
Irene-Wakonda School or Gayville-Volin School who plans to enroll in a
health care field of study. Deadline will be set each year by the
Sunset Manor Administrator.
- Satter Family Scholarship - 1 - $500 scholarship.
Student must have a 2.5 GPA or higher; participation in 2 or more
extra-curricular activities throughout high school and a minimum of 20 hours
of community service. Open to all types of post-secondary education. Preference
to students from the Irene Community. Paid 2nd Semester of Your Freshman Year
Education Assn.(I-W.E.A.) Scholarship - $500
The recipient is selected by the I-W.E.A. on the basis of: ed.
plans; leadership ability; extra-curricular activities; community
service; and answers to essay questions.
IRENE AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION/SHERMAN AND KIMIKO PETERSEN PROMISE
SCHOLARSHIP - 2.50 or higher GPA or an ACT Composite
score of at least 21; Multiple scholarships could be awarded each year.
Must be attending a public college or
university. Preference will be given to majors in the areas of
Business, Science and Math;
Info. & Application
Merchants State Bank - (MSB/SDBF Scholarship) -
Scholarship; do not need to have an acct. at the bank;
deadline (mailed to Freeman, SD)
and info. is emailed to all seniors.

Character Award - 1, $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a
student who demonstrates great personal character - intergrity,
self-awareness, leadership, work ethic and citizenship. Open to
students planning to attend either a Technical School or College, Need two
